National Dog Day is recognized nationally on August 26th each year. The event was the brainchild of Colleen Page the founder of Animal Miracle Foundation whose goal is to raise awareness of the plight homeless and abused animals face. Each year the day is celebrated with many events nationwide however, there is always one main flagship event often held during the following weekend . For 2008 that event will be held on Solomons Island Maryland at the Calvert Marine Museum on Saturday – August 23rd from 10A – 5P.
