When most people think of a rescued dog they think of a dog that has been abused or has special physical and/or emotional needs. I am here to tell you that yes, there are plenty of dogs that meet this criteria and those very special dogs need to be carefully matched with equally special parents. They need a family that can devote the necessary time, patience, and resources to rehabilitating the pooch.
However, not all rescue dogs come with additional baggage. Meet Belle…A glorious 75 pound – two year old Chocolate Lab beaming with love and personality!! She was adopted from a rescue by my in-laws after her loving owners could no longer keep her due to their own medical issues. Belle was loved immensely and was wonderfully trained by her previous parents. In fact, Belle has so much love to share she is now enrolled in training to become a therapy dog.
If you’ve rescued a dog, I would love to hear about your experience…
