Here we are in the midst of summer when many families pack up the car and head to the beach with the hopes of soaking up a little sun and coming home with enough memories to last through the long cold winter. We wish you all a happy 4th of July!! Enjoy the day with your family – friends and of course your pampered pooch!! Play a game of fetch – hike thru a new trail – or just enjoy one another…Wherever the day may lead you, we wish you a fabulous and memorable time!!
Remember to provide your pooch with plenty of water and shade if you are going to be outdoors for extended periods of time. Also, don’t forget to take breaks so that your pup can catch their breath and relax!

National Dog Day is recognized nationally on August 26th each year. The event was the brainchild of Colleen Page the founder of Animal Miracle Foundation whose goal is to raise awareness of the plight homeless and abused animals face. Each year the day is celebrated with many events nationwide however, there is always one main flagship event often held during the following weekend . For 2008 that event will be held on Solomons Island Maryland at the Calvert Marine Museum on Saturday – August 23rd from 10A – 5P. For all our dog loving friends in California have we got the event for you!! I came across an ad for the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA 14th Annual Mutt Strutt Dog Walk-a-thon today in my latest issue of Fido Friendly. The event is being held on Saturday August 16th from 9A – 1P at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo. It sounds like aside from the fabulous walk pets will enjoy vendors, prizes, and several contests like “Most Talented” or my favorite “Best Kisser”. Every pup enjoys a little “me” time and the Cabana Tents are just the answer. The tents are available in three great colors Candy Stripe Pink, Poolside Blue, or Wilderness Brown to suit every pup’s personality and your decor. We love how easy they are to set up just 2 zippers and a few one touch closures and your up and running. Breaking the tent down is a snap as well and it stores flat a huge space saving plus which also makes them great for travel as well.
Once assembled the cabanas actually have a functioning flap down door for a totally private environment. The interior is not only spacious but constructed of a soft plush material to ensure your pooch rests in the lap of luxury. While the tents are not weather resistant during good weather we transport our Poolside Cabana back and forth from inside to our pool so that Chloe can have a break from the sun and of course just enjoy a little time alone.
